Skilled Nurse Paul Fookes, RN, to Be Published in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

With an upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare, Paul Fookes, RN, joins the prestigious ranks of the International Nurses Association. He is a Registered Nurse with forty-one years of experience in his field and extensive expertise in perioperative nursing, mental health and clinical advice. Paul is a senior nursing officer within the Clinical Advisory Group of the 3rd Health Support Battalion in Randwick, New South Wales, Australia. The 3rd Health Support Battalion is an Australian Army Reserve unit headquartered in Adelaide, South Australia, with sub-units spread across Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. Paul is also self-employed at the family property, Akkaydrah, he and his wife Fran established in 1999 to focus on developing an education precinct devoted to sustainable living including off-grid power, reed bed waste water management, integrated chook and garden area, and solar aquaponics setup. In 2010, Paul retired from regular workforce to focus on mentorship, health promotion, community mental health engagement and suicide prevention.

In 1977, Paul completed his general nursing certificate at the University of New South Wales Nursing Education Center and went on to work in neurosurgery and emergency departments. In 1982, he joined the Australian Army as a nurse. Over the years, he has completed a post graduate certificate in psychiatric nursing, post basic certificate in operating room nursing, and a bachelor’s degree of applied science in nursing in 1990 at the University of Sydney. He was also accepted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, Australia, now the Australian College of Nursing. Paul attributes his success to his parents’ support and encouragement, having a sense of right and wrong, and strong mentorship from nursing and military leaders. During his time in the Australian Army, he was awarded a Defence Medal and an Australian Service Medal.
