Skilled Nurse De Borah R. Basemore, RN, BSN, MHN, to Be Published in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

With an upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare, De Borah R. Basemore, RN, BSN, MHN, joins the prestigious ranks of the International Nurses Association. She is a Registered Nurse with thirty-six years of experience in her field and extensive expertise in all facets of nursing. De Borah is currently the CCSHCN Sickle Cell Program Coordinator at James Brown Cancer Center in Louisville, Kentucky. She provides the outreach and care coordination to infants identified through the Kentucky Newborn Screening Program since her appointment in 1997.

In the 1990s, De Borah worked at Central State Hospital as team nurse in the areas of Acute, Forensic and Geriatric psychiatric nursing, and was then employed at Veteran Hospital on a Medical-Surgical unit. In 1995, De Borah was promoted to the position as Charge Nurse/Acting Administrator over Hazelwood Community ICF/MR Facility located in Crestwood, Kentucky. Two years later, she took on another new project, The CCSHCN Sickle Cell Program, which she coordinates for the Western part of Kentucky. De Borah developed a Sickle Cell Nursing Algorithm for the State of Kentucky to provide a way to locate and offer care coordination.

De Borah received her associate’s degree in Nursing from Jefferson Community College, followed by her bachelor’s degree of science in nursing at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. She is certified by The American Nurse Credentialing Center in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, and holds certification in Basic Life Support. In 2001, De Borah was selected to participate in the 4th Class of the Governor’s Minority Management Program.

De Borah attributes her success to great mentors at the VA hospital, where the nurses and nurse practitioners took her under their wings and fostered a nurturing and learning environment. She attends St. Stephen Church and is involved in ministry. Outside her nursing career, she also dedicates to walking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
