Skilled Nurse Janet Kula Harden, PhD, RN, to Be Published in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

With an upcoming publication in the Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare, Janet Kula Harden, PhD, RN, joins the prestigious ranks of the International Nurses Association. She is a Registered Nurse with forty-two years of experience in her field and extensive expertise in nurse education, progressive and intensive care, post anesthesia care, perioperative care, coronary care nursing, and critical care. Janet retired from Beaumont Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and is currently serving patients as Associate Clinical Professor and Interim Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs at Wayne State University, College of Nursing, in Detroit, Michigan. She has an administrative appointment in the College of Nursing and also teaches several courses focusing on leadership and management in nursing practice and professional issues for advanced practice nurses, qualitative research methods, and advanced professional leadership.

Janet has enjoyed a rich professional journey and has built a solid background of clinical and administrative nursing experience. She has also authored several articles on prostate cancer and their partners and has participated in cardiovascular research related to heart failure. Current research interests include quality of life in partners of survivors of prostate cancer. Janet chose a career in nursing because she wanted to help and spend time with people when they were most vulnerable. She credits her success to her patients, looking for ways to help patients, and a lot of research. Also, all the people she has cared for have been her motivation. Janet also has participated in local, regional, and national lecturing and public speaking, primarily on topics related to prostate cancer.

Janet received her bachelor’s degree of science in nursing, her master’s degree in nursing and business adminsitration from Madonna University. In 2004, she added a PhD to her extensive academic accomplishments, which she acquired from the University of Michigan. A Nurse Executive, Advanced-Board Certified (NEA-BC), formerly CNAA-BC, Janet is also an inductee of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and was presented with the New Innovation Research Award by the University of Michigan. Furthermore, she was selected by the Oncology Nurses Society to present her research there in the short courses. When not dedicating her time to her work, Janet enjoys gardening and time spent with her grandchildren.
