From there, she became a triage nurse and lymphedema educator for an oncology practice with 6 physicians. Karen transitioned to administering chemotherapy six years later. After four years in that field, she left that position to embrace the role of a clinical research nurse for the next four years within the same practice. In October 2014, she became a breast cancer Nurse Navigator. As a researcher, Karen was captivated by new oncology treatments available for breast cancer.

Born in Jamaica, Karen has always wanted to help people maintain and regain their health. She attributes her success to great mentors and dedication to excellence in the field. Being committed to staying abreast of new advances in the field and a love of improving the quality of life for her patients has also helped her build a successful career. She is motivated at the start of each day by the prospect of helping people. Karen also has volunteered her spare time with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. Although busy with her work and school, she devotes her time outside nursing practice to help care for her four grandchildren, painting portraits, drawing, crocheting, cooking, and reading.
