Kara Michelle Himelfarb Represents Virginia with Entry into Renowned Publication Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare and the International Nurses Association are proud to announce that Kara Michelle Himelfarb is being honored for her exceptional successes in the nursing community.  With many years in the industry, Kara has demonstrated the passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for patient care necessary to be considered a Top Nurse in her field.

Kara is currently a nursing student in the Arlington, Virginia area.  Her specialty of interest is emergency nursing.  Kara already possesses a Master’s Degree in Teaching and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing completed at the University of Marymount in 2012.  She is an active member of the American Nurses Association, the Emergency Nurses Association, and the Student Nurses Association.

For her excellence in the field, Kara was elected to the Sigma Beta Tau National Honors Society of Leadership and Success in 2012.  She also has EMT-B certification, having completed the basic course for emergency medical technicians.

Nancy spent a 36 year long nursing career working at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland.  Among her many specialties included OBGYN nursing, Pediatrics, Administration, Medical-Surgical, Home Care, and nursing for Alzheimers patients.  Throughout her career, Nancy was proud to serve residents of western Maryland.

In 1976, Nancy received her medical degree at University of Maryland School of Nursing.  She then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.   Nancy attributes the success of her career to the education she received as well as the different opportunities that presented themselves in the field.

Lawrence works at Quintiles in Austin, Texas.  Through this company, Lawrence is able to conduct bioresearch for the latest emergency medicine treatments on the market today.  Lawrence is also an emergency room nurse at Park Plaza Hospital; he maintains the balance between clinical research and practice in the field.  He was inspired to enter the field after caring for his own mother, who battled multiple sclerosis for over 10 years.

In 1990, Lawrence received his nursing degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center.  He also has certifications in advanced cardiac and basic life support systems.  To stay active in the fields of nursing and clinical research, Lawrence is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Texas Nurses Association, and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.

Ursula Osteneck, RN, PhD, Represents Saskatchewan with Entry into Renowned Publication Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

Ursula works at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology’s Woodland Campus in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada.  As an educator, Ursula is Head of the school’s Continuing Care Assistant Program.  Among her many duties include writing curriculums, committee assignments, and other administrative duties.  In the past, Ursula introduced a new charting system at Bethany Care Centre of Calgary, and was Project Manager on that project.

In addition to her teaching career, Ursula is also a published author.  Her published works include Budget Orientation Tool for Nurse Managers, SIAST in India in SIAST Global View and Experiences of Women along with nursing care in Malawi.  For her services, she was awarded with citations from Malawi, the Edith Henry Memorial Award, and citations for her work in Jordan on the SETVET project. She continues to publish many educational manuals and curriculums, guiding healthcare professionals through the course of their education.

Vera Aileen Owens, LVN, Represents California with Entry into Renowned Publication Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

The International Nurses Association, INA, has carefully selected Vera Aileen Owens, LVN, to represent nursing in their publication, Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare.  Vera Owens’ selection is a significant representation of her passion and dedication for the field of nursing.  She is considered to be among the best with nearly 10 years in practice.

Vera maintains a position at Country Villa Belmont Heights located in Long Beach, California. Country Villa, being a 24-hour RN skilled nursing program, they provide therapy and pulmonary care to their residents. Vera is a licensed vocational nurse, working with ventilator dependent patients and with patients who have tracheotomies. As a vocational nurse, Vera mainly practices under the direction of the physicians and registered nurses of Country Villa. In her spare time, Vera conducts IV and blood withdrawal certifications to a variety of nurses.

In 2006, Vera graduated from Long Beach City College. For all of her hard work and devotion to nursing, Vera received 2 scholarships for work-home study by Sylvie Abbott.

Darlene works at Coastal Medical in Rhode Island.  Her job is Director of Clinical, Pharmacy and Quality Services; with responsibilities for the benefit of health management.  She develops, implements, and executes clinical programs that educate and engage patients, and also provides direction to 20 Nurse Care Managers and 5 Clinical Pharmacists. Darlene oversees pharmacy operations, patient education, and medication reconciliation programs across all of Coastal Health’s practices.  There are 20 Coastal Medical practices that consist of primary care physicians, cardiac, pulmonary and sleep care.  All Coastal Medical Offices are NCQA Level 3 recognized Patient Centered Medical Homes, and the organization does anticipate growth in the future.

In 1980, Darlene received her nursing degree from Laboure College in Dorchester, Massachusetts.  She is also skilled in advanced cardiac and basic life support systems. Darlene was Nominated 5 Times for Caregiver of the Year at the Kenneth Schwartz Center, where she has done volunteer work in the past.  Her work here has led Darlene to strengthen her patient relationships as caregiver; something she is very proud of over her 30 plus years of service.  She remains a member of the American College of Healthcare Professionals, Women in Healthcare Management, the Department of Public Health, the Massachusetts Health Association, and Sigma Theta Tau.

Rush SurgiCenter is an outpatient surgical facility that is affiliated with the Rush system; meaning that their patients receive the same quality care that is expected from one of the area’s leading medical institutions. Joseph is an experienced registered nurse, and aside from tending to his patients Joseph provides training for the staff of the Center, and for local ambulatory and surgery centers. Joseph has obtained numerous certifications to remain well-rounded in the field; certifications such as advanced cardiac life support, First Aid, operating room certification, and pediatric life support.

In 1997, Joseph attained his RN degree. He then attended Morton College, Loyola University, and the University of Phoenix for his continued education training. At the University of Phoenix, Joseph received his Master’s in Business Administration. Active in the field of nursing, Joseph is also a dedicated member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses; an organization that promotes and advances professional rehabilitation and nursing practice through education, advocacy, and collaboration.
