Helen P. Keller, RN – International Nurses Association

Helen P. Keller, RN, works for Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, North Carolina. The first hospital in the country to feature an interventional cardiology program, Helen works with patients who are recovering from surgeries in the post anesthesia care unit. She helps outpatients get ready to leave the hospital, and is proficient in a number of life support techniques.

Susan D. Alexander, BSN, RN – International Nurses Association

Susan D. Alexander, BSN, RN, works at Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Washington. Susan works on the labor and delivery unit, helping new mothers bring their newborns into the world. For 11 years, she also volunteered with the Boy Scouts in her spare time. Susan also provides education and orientation for new nurses, helping those and sharing her wisdom obtained during her 38 year long career.

Beatrice Cichocka, RN – International Nurses Association

Beatrice Cichocka, RN, works in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Educated in Poland, Beatrice specializes in working with the geriatric population. This often includes working in nursing homes, long term care facilities, and hospitals; depending on the patients ability to transport. Beatrice is also involved with the Massachusetts Nurses Association and is trained in various forms of life support.

Lynette E. Polacek, RN – International Nurses Association

Lynette E. Polacek, RN, has recently been inducted into the International Nurses Association. Lynette is a full time employee at Salem Hospital in the Vascular Access Department with psychiatric nursing experience as well. She is currently on the Board of Directors for the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and is a member of various infusion nurses associations as well as a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. She teaches at Salem Hospital and contracts with the Marion County Health Department to teach in the transitional homes for PSRB clients. Lynette also has private clients in the community.

Donna M. Hedges, MBA, MSN, CNE, RN, Represents Texas

Hedges, MBA, MSN, CNE, RN, is being honored for her exceptional successes in the nursing community.  With many years in the industry, Donna has demonstrated the passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for patient care necessary to be considered a Top Nurse in her field.

Donna is currently enrolled as a PhD student in Capella University.  Her degree is in Education, with a special emphasis in Nursing education; she plans to graduate in 2014.  With over 30 years of nursing education underneath her belt, Donna has completed research on Incivility in nursing and nursing education as well as Academic and Health Care Leadership.  Donna remains President of the Texas League for Nursing and is an Ambassador to the National League for Nursing.

In 1981, Donna received her associate’s degree in nursing from St. Petersburg Junior College in Florida.  She then received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Tampa and her master of science of nursing from the University of Phoenix. With an MBA from the same university, Donna also possesses the Certified Nurse Educator title (CNE).  Voted an Image Maker in 2011, Donna maintains membership in the American Nurses Association, the Texas Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International.

Nancy Proctor Alga, RN, BSN, Represents Maryland

Nancy spent a 36 year long nursing career working at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Maryland.  Among her many specialties included OBGYN nursing, Pediatrics, Administration, Medical-Surgical, Home Care, and nursing for Alzheimers patients.  Throughout her career, Nancy was proud to serve residents of western Maryland.

In 1976, Nancy received her medical degree at University of Maryland School of Nursing.  She then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.   Nancy attributes the success of her career to the education she received as well as the different opportunities that presented themselves in the field.

Vera Aileen Owens, LVN, Represents California

The International Nurses Association, INA, has carefully selected Vera Aileen Owens, LVN, to represent nursing in their publication, Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare.  Vera Owens’ selection is a significant representation of her passion and dedication for the field of nursing.  She is considered to be among the best with nearly 10 years in practice.

Vera maintains a position at Country Villa Belmont Heights located in Long Beach, California. Country Villa, being a 24-hour RN skilled nursing program, they provide therapy and pulmonary care to their residents. Vera is a licensed vocational nurse, working with ventilator dependent patients and with patients who have tracheotomies. As a vocational nurse, Vera mainly practices under the direction of the physicians and registered nurses of Country Villa. In her spare time, Vera conducts IV and blood withdrawal certifications to a variety of nurses.

In 2006, Vera graduated from Long Beach City College. For all of her hard work and devotion to nursing, Vera received 2 scholarships for work-home study by Sylvie Abbott.

Joseph Gaetano Sciabica, RN, BSN, MBA, Represents Illinois

The International Nurses Association, INA, has carefully selected Joseph Gaetano Sciabica, RN, BSN, MBA, to represent nursing in their publication, Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare.  Joseph Sciabica’s selection is a significant representation of his passion and dedication for the field of nursing.  He is considered to be among the best with nearly 20 years in practice.

Joseph maintains the position of Clinical Coordinator at Rush SurgiCenter LP located in Chicago, Illinois. Rush SurgiCenter is an outpatient surgical facility that is affiliated with the Rush system; meaning that their patients receive the same quality care that is expected from one of the area’s leading medical institutions. Joseph is an experienced registered nurse, and aside from tending to his patients Joseph provides training for the staff of the Center, and for local ambulatory and surgery centers. Joseph has obtained numerous certifications to remain well-rounded in the field; certifications such as advanced cardiac life support, First Aid, operating room certification, and pediatric life support.

In 1997, Joseph attained his RN degree. He then attended Morton College, Loyola University, and the University of Phoenix for his continued education training. At the University of Phoenix, Joseph received his Master’s in Business Administration. Active in the field of nursing, Joseph is also a dedicated member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses; an organization that promotes and advances professional rehabilitation and nursing practice through education, advocacy, and collaboration.

Patricia Rivard Duval, RN, MSN, APN-BC, Represents New Mexico

Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare and the International Nurses Association are proud to announce that Patricia Rivard Duval, RN, MSN, APN-BC, is being honored for her exceptional successes in the nursing community.  With many years in the industry, Patricia has demonstrated the passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for patient care necessary to be considered a Top Nurse in her field.

Patricia works at Heavenly Health Family Nurse Practitioners, located in Gallup, New Mexico.  They provide individualized care to all of Gallup, providing medical care, hospital transportation, and help for chronically ill patients. Patricia is President and advanced family nurse practitioner, caring for families with the same autonomy as that of a physician.  Patricia is also certified as an acute care nurse practitioner, specializing in chronically ill elderly patients.

In 1972, Patricia earned her nursing degree at the Alexandria Hospital School of Nursing.  She then earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree at the University of New Mexico and Northern Arizona University.  For all of her work, she was award with a Community Health Award and a Sigma Theta Tau Nurse Practitioner’s Award.  She remains a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the New Mexico Chamber of Commerce.  In her spare time, she conducts local and regional preceptorship and instructor for nurses and nurse practitioners.

Peggy M. McCormick, LPN, BS, Represents Louisiana

McCormick, LPN, BS, is being honored for her exceptional successes in the nursing community.  With many years in the industry, Peggy has demonstrated the passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for patient care necessary to be considered a Top Nurse in her field.

Peggy works at Ochsner Home Health Care in New Orleans, Louisiana.  In the field since 1973, Peggy has held many positions in nursing.  Currently, she involves herself in regional public speaking on tuberculosis and health in the work place; as well as pioneering a health program, Pathway to Wellness.  Pathway to Wellness is an award-based program for employees of Ochsner to get healthy by giving them money in exchange for exercise.

In 1973, Peggy received her nursing degree at Nunez Community College.  She also has a Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University, and her research was published in the 1970’s.  During the 1980’s, she received a Jefferson Award for Outstanding Service as an Individual to the Public for her service.  From 2001 to 2005, she worked lecturing others about tubercuolosis, and also has blood banking management and clinical research technician experience in her past careers in healthcare.
